Research Report

"Not so long ago sex and work were savagely opposed terms: both are dissolved into the same type of demand. Formerly the discourse on history took its force from opposing itself to the one on nature, the discourse on desire to the one on power-today they exchange their signifiers and their scenarios" (Pg. 36). This quote addresses the artist that I am going to be talking about which her name is Kara Walker. She is an African American woman that is a artist. Her artwork describes this quote because within her artwork she shows the sex or gender and work of African Americans being treated during that time.  https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Agga-CSm2YJGUmdoAaDBTH-0phX98CxfcjjSxjXxSRk/edit?usp=sharing Kara Walker is a good artist that represents good African American artwork. Looking at her artwork you can tell that she has passion for what she has been through or talking about with her artwork. For me looking at her art you can tell that it is a true deep meaning to her

Eric Garcia Artist Talk

"The conjunction of desire and value, of desire and capital. The conjunction of desire and law-the ultimate joy and metamorphosis of the law (which is why it is so well received at the moment): only capital takes pleasure, Lyotard said, before coming to think that we take pleasure in capital" (Pg. 35). This quote relates Eric Garcia because his artwork he shows how the art is being made of his desires. When it comes to doing your art you should have this joy or passion when you're doing your art. I feel like Eric Garcia brings that when he was discussing his artwork.   I really did like Garcia's artwork and what he brings to the art world. Just looking at his artwork it has so many animated cartoon characters. But if really look at them its more like a political aspect to his artwork. Especially in these two images that I have picked out. I really like his these two pieces because I feel it represents people of what they have been through in this world. Just looking a

Progress Report of the Final Project

"It can be seen that the iconoclasts, who are often accused of despising and denying images, were in fact the ones who accorded them their actual worth, unlike the iconolaters, who saw in them only reflections and were content to venerate God at one remove" (Pg.9). I feel like what I took from this quote is that you cannot deny any bodies talent or what they bring to the table. Also, that you should not take any judgment for it or feel bad about it.  https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1C8cHh5Vg9A8U1f7Dn9MgMPuDxrywrrSyeZ98DlQ3k3k/edit?usp=sharing For my final project I wanted to show movement and how we can use are bodies with. So which is dancing for me recently ever since I quit football two years ago. The dance group is called Afro Fusions, and we dance many different genres of music but mainly to Afro Beats. So, in this video I wanted to show me and the rest of my group members using our bodies in different movements.

Final Project Proposal

For the beginning of this class, I already knew what I wanted to do sort of. Which I will be doing a videos of me using different materials and spaces in the video to give it some type of dramatic effect. I want to take photos of the nature because I really did like taking pictures of many different things that I am doing or see when I am out and about. Ever since taking theses type of classes I always love doing videos and photos which is my art to me.  https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1C8cHh5Vg9A8U1f7Dn9MgMPuDxrywrrSyeZ98DlQ3k3k/edit?usp=sharing "Abstraction today is no longer that of the map, the double, the mirror or the concept. Stimulation is no longer of that territory, a referential being or substance. It is the generation by models of a real without origin or reality" (Pg. 2). I feel like I chose this quote because it relates because I want my videos to at least show some type of abstraction or reality to my photos or videos. This quote means to me is that you

End of Class Wrap up

"I-I hardly know, sir just at present-at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then" (Pg. 154). With my these projects I had a fun creating a learning different apps and mediums. Actually creating that these projects were difficult but the same time I was enjoying learning new things in art form way. Every project changed me in a way and make see art in a whole different way.  Prints: I really liked how my prints came out. I am glad that I went around Appleton took some pictures and my friend came along to help me out. At first for me I had a hard time printing out my prints but I got it together. Actually editing the photo to look right on the print paper. Actually taking photos and editing to how the way you want too look was exciting moment for me. I actually making these projects my own content and just having fun playing around a camera, editing apps and other apps.  Link for the five prints:  https:/

Daily Vlog Collaboration (Allatonceness)

"You must talk to the media, not to the programmer is like complaining to a hot dog vendor at a ballpark about how badly your favorite team is playing" (Pg. 142). I feel like creating the video you do want to talk to the media and keep that engagement of your daily life. Now and days especially with this generation I feel we get caught up with some many other things going on in our daily life. I feel like sometimes you can forgot about those things and be use to that structure. Making videos really does capture those moments of everything.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUzC54uLGcc For the final project I decided to collaborate with my friend and peer Vay. Both of us came with a way of a video calling it "Daily Vlog". In this video we are both describing our day and just giving a day in our lives. This video shows how we through are our days but also the struggles of being a Lawrence student. But in the end we have close friend group that keeps us on our toes. Wi

Everything We Do (Is Music) SoundScape

Image
From McLuhan, "We hear sounds from everywhere, without ever having to focus. Sounds come from "above" from "below", from in "front" of us, from "behind" us, from our "right", our "left'. We can't shut out sound automatically. We simply are not equipped with earlids. Where a visual space is an organized continuum of a uniformed connected kind, the ear world is a world of simultaneous relationships" (Pg. 112). I feel like music or just sound makes you already listen and try to grasp that sound. Sometimes that music or sound can be good for you or sometimes not. Sometimes we do not even pay attention to sounds that goes around us.  Profile Pic  So with my song I decided to have a little of bit of R&B music mixed with Hip Hop. On normally day basis I listen to both genre of music all the time literally everyday. For me music calms especially listening to R&B music. I do not know if it's lyrics or the beat
